Abstract
We present a new LAN scheme which associates a packet switched network — typically an Ethernet network — and an optical WDM circuit switched network. This approach aims at a more efficient utilization of these two technologies, and offers a very high bit rate transmission capability with high flexibility. Network evolution by implementing narrower filters or Coherent MultiChannel (CMC) is then discussed.
