Abstract

The results of an experimental research on laminar, transition and turbulent flow through sintered bronze metallic filters are here reported. Assuming the square root of the permeability as characteristic dimension of the porous media, all the experimental results — obtained either with air or with water as working fluid — are presented on a plot of the friction factor versus the Reynolds number. A unique value of the characteristic constant allows a good fit for both fluids.
