Abstract

An analysis is performed to study the heat transfer characteristics of laminar mixed convective boundary layer flow over a semi-infinite horizontal flat plate embedded in porous medium. The effect of uniform suction and injection on the horizontal flat plate with uniform surface temperature is numerically studied by employing an implicit finite difference Keller's box method. Numerical results show that non-Darcian have significant influences on velocity profiles, temperature profiles and heat transfer rates from the horizontal surface. The results indicate that the suction enhances the heat transfer coefficient while injection causes a decrease in heat transfer.
