Abstract

The steady-state laminar source flow of an incompressible elastico-viscous liquid between stationary infinite porous disks is considered. The suction or injection velocities at the disks are assumed to be uniform. The flow phenomenon has been characterized by the nondimensional parameters S (elastic number), R (wall Reynolds number), and Re* (reduced Reynolds number). The solution obtained is in the form of a perturbation from the creeping flow solution and is valid for small values of R and also for small values of Re*. The effects of the above parameters on the velocity distribution, shear stress, and the radial pressure variation have been studied.
