Abstract

To design a practical gas turbine combustion chamber which operates up to 55 atmospheres, burning stability at elevated pressure was investigated by can type combustion chambers with different prirr.ary zone designs. It was found that there is strong correlation between average air velocity in the primary zone at the blow-off limit UBO and laminar burning velocity SL of the methane fuel. At atmospheric condition. At high pressure condition, however, UBO can be correlated with the maximum laminar burning velocity Slt:LM> corresponding to the pressure and the temperature. Values of UBO /SLM for three combustors investigated have same correlation with operating pressure. The result shows that the air velocity in the primary zone must have lower values as the design pressure increases.
