Abstract

The polymerization of octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane, hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane, 1,3,5-trimethyl-1,3,5-triphenylcyclotrisiloxane and 1,3,5-trimethyl-1,3,5-tris(3,3,3-trifluoropropyl)cyclotrisiloxane in the presence of lamellar graphite-alkali metal compounds has been investigated. Negatively charged graphite layers rather than alkali metal atoms are supposed to constitute the active polymerization centers. A cyclic structure is proposed for the polymers.
