Abstract
The road transport system is facing one of its major transformations since the introduction of the internal combustion engine. The emergence of new technologies that facilitate the development towards increased digitalization and automation of vehicles is causing a paradigm shift in the transport sector, requiring a fundamental upgrade of the current communication infrastructure. Within the Norwegian research project LambdaRoad, the planning of a hybrid communication system is investigated utilizing both mobile network and ITS-G5 communication. Within this project a map-based planning tool is developed to investigate the coverage of communication (in terms of signal strength) along the road network.
