Abstract
London Underground Limited's Ladbroke Grove Station, constructed around 100 years ago, was displaying signs of structural damage. The brick platform walls appeared to have rotated outwards from the tracks and vertical cracks of up to 5 mm wide were visible. Investigation and monitoring works were undertaken and proposals were outlined for remedial works. A design and build contract was subsequently awarded for remedial works. The earlier remedial proposals were reconsidered at design in order to arrive at the optimum solution, resulting in the least disruption to passengers. This paper discusses how the final solution was derived, the construction works and the monitoring of their effectiveness.
