E-mail address: yjyoon@gnu.ac.kr Received July 30, 2008(4,5-Dichloro-6-oxo-6H-pyridazin-1-yl)phosphoric acid diethyl ester (3) is an efficient coupling agent forlactonization of aliphatic and aromatic ω-hydroxycarboxylic acids. Lactonization of ω-hydroxycarboxylicacids with 3 in the presence of equimolar amounts of a base gave the corresponding monoolides, diolides,triolides and/or tetraolides.Key Words : Lactonization, ω-Hydroxycarboxylic acid, (6-Oxo-6H-pyridazin-1-yl)phosphoric acid diethylester, LactoneIntroductionLactonization is an important process in the synthesis ofthe natural product.
