Abstract

LACTATING ADENOMAS ACCOUNT for the majority of breast masses in pregnant women.2,3 They tend to be small, usually less then 3 centimeters. Infrequently, they present as a large mass that could easily be mistaken for a malignant tumor. One case of giant lactating adenoma was treated with bromocriptine, a dopamine agonist. Dramatic shrinkage of the tumor was observed, allowing surgical excision with less cosmetic sequelae.
