Abstract

Background: The aesthetic outcome of a well-planned and executed vascularised composite tissue face allotransplant is unquestionable; however, complete functional restoration is necessary. We studied the possibility of restoring tear duct function in face transplant recipients. We also examined the technical specifics and feasibility of incorporating a lacrimal drainage apparatus into face allografting.
