Abstract

Polynucleotides, poly(adenylate) and poly(uridylate), and corresponding vinyl polymers, poly(vinyladenine) and poly(vinyluracil), which were shown to inhibit in vitro murine RNA tumor virus reverse transcriptase, do not effect the induction of AKR virus by IdUrd from virus negative AKR cells. Under identical conditions, exogenous infection by AKR virus in these cells was markedly inhibited. These results suggest that the function of virus specific reverse transcriptase is not essential for the induction process.
