Abstract

Thymectomy (complete in two-thirds of the animals) was performed on 42 weanling rats and a sham operation on 44 controls. Examination of groups of the animals at 1 to 3½ weeks after thymectomy showed no significant differences in inguinal gland weight, thyroid weight, or thyroidal 24-hour uptake of radioactive iodine between the thymectomized and control animals.
