Abstract

The role of Rhizoctonia solani laccase in the maceration of plant tissue was investigated. Extracellular enzymes produced by R. solani were found to macerate lignified lupin radicle and non-lignified potato tuber tissue. Arginine inhibited maceration of lupin radicle but not potato tuber tissue. Arginine inhibited laccase activity but had no effect on the activity of cellulase, pectinase or xylanase.
