Abstract

Summary After 4 to 19 days hot composting the organic matter of chicken slurry/ash mixtures in incubation trials proved to be more stable than untreated poultry excrements or spreadable manure gained from it by aerobic fermentation processes. Despite N-losses during storage and the ash content in these products about 50% of their nitrogen is still directly effektive for fertilizing. The results can be explained by the composition of the group of substances but they also do not shut out a possible influence of the microbial activity by the ash component.
