Abstract
The life cycle of the oriental fruit fly, Dacus dorsalis Hendel, in papayas was completely interrupted by a coating of a standard commercial fruit wax containing the insect growth regulator, methoprene. Tests with the oriental fruit fly showed no survival of adult flies from treated fruits, although the dosages required were an order of magnitude greater than those needed for the Mediterranean fruit fly, Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann).
