Abstract
Emulsifiable and encapsulated formulations of malathion and fenitrothion were applied to soft red winter wheat at doses of 2.5, 5.0, 7.5, and 10 ppm AI. The wheat then was stored 12 mo to determine relative effectiveness of residues against adult rice weevils, Sitophilus oryzae (L.). lesser gain borers, Rhyzopertha dominica (F.), red flour beetles, Tribolium castaneum (Herbst), and confused flour beetles, T. confusum Jacquelin duVal. Fenitrothion was more effective than malathion against all species. No significant differences in relative effectiveness were found between the encapsulated and emulsifiable formulations. Residues were determined by CLC analysis. There were no significant differences in the amounts of residue deposited on the wheat by the encapsulated and emulsifiable applications.
