Introduction. Hepatitis C virus diagnostics are essential to achieve global elimination. HCV is currently diagnosed first through the detection of HCV antibodies (anti-HCV) and, second, among those who are anti-HCV positive, active HCV infection is confirmed by HCV-RNA PCR and genotyping.
