Abstract

In order to understand soil erosion characteristics on different vegetation coverage in karst mountain area in southwest of China, 12 tests of soil erosion simulation were carried out according to the land surface features and meteorological data in this region. The results showed that slop runoff ratio which was after 180 ∼ 300s changed little, and the average runoff ratio decreased with the increase of vegetation coverage, the reduction between 2%∼19%. Sediment yield transport rate in bare land changed complicatedly, and with the increase of vegetation coverage, the average reduced between 65%∼90%. The total sediment yield reduced with the increase of vegetation coverage, the vegetation coverage is 40%, the reduction between 65%∼90%, and which is 70%, the reduction between 68%∼84%. Total slop runoff decreased with the increase of vegetation coverage, the vegetation coverage is 40%, the decreasing amount between 2%∼10%, and which is 70%, the decrease between 13%∼19%. Raindrop impact on soil plays an important role in soil erosion in this area.
