Abstract

The article presents the results of an empirical study of the interconnection between labor motivation and successful socio-psychological adaptation of the employees of the penal system. The motivation of most employees comes from the content of their work, i.e., the work process is essential for them (working conditions, possibilities for their career growth and professional development, opportunities for taking personal responsibility and ensuring permanent employment). Workers showed the highest level of socio-psychological adaptation with the resulting orientation of the communicative type of labor motivation. It is caused by the fact that communication is of particular importance in the professional activities of the employees of the penal correction system, that is why people with a focus on interacting with others most quickly adapt to such work. The least adapted are employees with the resulting orientation of cooperative motivation. Employees with this type of motivation are most likely do not experience job satisfaction. The obtained results can be applied when developing a professional selection program for the position of a penal system officer, developing a SPA program, taking into account the identified factors and criteria. In this case, it is necessary to diagnose the level of SPA before assuming the position to identify the reserves of the employee and to conduct diagnostics after passing the SPA program to identify the results.
