Abstract

(Anaesthesia. 2022;77:351–353) Maternal obesity rates are increasing, which is concerning for the short-term maternal and neonatal well-being during vaginal and cesarean delivery. A recent study found obese and morbidly obese parturients had increased use of neuraxial blocks compared to their nonobese counterparts (76% vs. 68%). Rates in Finland in 2018 were only 60%, so this study aimed to further analyze and report the use of labor analgesia in obese and morbidly obese parturients in Finland.
