Abstract

We report the labeling of two tetradentate and three pentadentate aminephenol ligands with 99mTc by the ligand exchange method. Exchange studies were attempted with 99mTc-DTPA and 99mTc-citrate complexes. Labeling of the amine-phenol ligands by the ligand exchange method was more successful with the 99mTccitrate complex than with the 99mTc-DTPA complex. The complex of 99mTc with citrate was prepared at pH 6 at a total technetium concentration of 0.1 μM using stannous tartrate as the reducing agent. Ligand solutions were incubated with 99mTc-citrate complex at pH 9 for the exchange of Tc(V) from the citrate complex to the ligands. Complex yields of the amine-phenol ligands were estimated by solvent extraction and gel permeation chromatography. Complexes with radiochemical yields up to 95% could be prepared by the ligand exchange method.
