Abstract

This paper presents the microwave glucose sensor configured by loading a Meandered Signal Coplanar Sensor (MSCS) with the inter-digitated conductor bricks in the meander inductor. Two designs are presented in which the meander inductor is placed at the central part of the signal conductor strip of 50 Ohms coplanar waveguide (CPW), where the electric field has been intensified by loading the meander inductor with inter-digitated conductor bricks which are (i) grounded and (ii) ungrounded. The sensor device prototypes are fabricated in-house on the FR4 Printed Circuit Board (PCB), in which the sensing region is realized with Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). The RF parameters of each sensor device prototype have been measured to determine the aqueous glucose concentration. Experimental S-parameters have been closely observed to quantify the glucose concentration.
