The magazine El Artista has been considered to be the most significant magazine of the Spanish Romanticism and is a common place that his appearance was a fundamental fact in the development of the movement. The article proposes a new valuation of the same one, doing an analysis of his literary and graphical contents, and of the personality and social situation of the promoters of the magazine. The conclusion is that The Artist was a great operation of promotion of the group of the Madrazo and that his success in this field owes, fundamentally, more than to the texts, to the images in her published, that have turned, in many cases, in graphical and symbolic representations of the literary Spanish romanticism.
