Abstract

IntroductionThis article is based on a process of family therapy, and describes the efforts made by the family to re-signify painful past experiences in order to transcend the effects of incest and re-orient the sexual behaviors of future generations. ObjectiveStemming from an incestuous, traumatic event in the third generation of a family, a therapy is provided in which family members can look at their past in order to create new stories and ways of moving forward. MethodQualitative analysis of a therapeutic process dealing with transgenerational issues. Result and ConclusionIncest is more than a situational event. It is an experience that is connected to cultural, historical and generational events and meanings.
