Abstract

The rebirth of natural theology came after developments within analytical philosophy of religion. It has taken on different forms and has to reckon with different types of criticism within it. This rebirth, in addition to being connected to the reaffirmation of the possibility of metaphysics, is also connected to critical discussion and the overcoming of the prohibitions on rational discourse on God particularly by Hume and Kant and by their contemporary epigones, and more recently by logical positivism, and with the major revival, in contrast with anti-realistic tendencies, of epistemological and metaphysical realism.
