Abstract

This paper aims to a double objective: first, an attempt to briefly identify, characterize and analyze the phenomenon of child and youth migration, and secondly, to provide an overview of the legal dimension of this social phenomenon. Taking as a starting point the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and its Optional Protocols, as the minimum international standard for the protection of child and youth, we try to analyze this phenomenon in the light of its rules and principles. Additionally, we have used case laws, General Principles of International Law and regional instruments for the protection of Human Rights.
