Abstract

I propose a reflexion on : -the possible link between language biography of the learners of a foreign language and the characteristics of their metalinguistic representations ; -the use, by a goal-driven language didactics, of the metalinguistic representations brought to light. Then, activities aimed at developing language awareness, since they include a metacognitive process based on pre-existing linguistic possibilities, stir up "translinguistic" competence.
