Abstract

Through the theoretical-methodological perspective of critical discourse analysis, the deformation of the democratic principle of political representation is explored in the political discourse of the current president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, in the discursive space known as "las mañaneras”. It is theoretically based on relating democracy to the majority principle that is supported by political representation, and concludes by demonstrating its populist distortion in the president's political discourse.
