Abstract

The article explores the scope and consequences of the responsibility pertaining to ecclesiastical offices in the exercise of government functions. Based on an analysis of the meaning of responsibility as such, and the application of different kinds of responsibility to civil servants in state systems, the aim is to outline a structured system of responsibility for government roles in the canonical order, in both objective-functional and subjective- ethical terms.
