Abstract

The writing of Aminata Zaaria emanates from substantial reflection on the inherent questions regarding the female condition in Senegalese society. In her novel, La nuit est tombée sur Dakar, the female characters embark on an initiatory journey in search of their essence and their place in a perpetually changing world. In this context, the narration extends toward a holistic perspective of identity, drawing its richness from deep introspections intertwined with reminiscences of cultural heritage, ancestral history, and buried memories. This quest rises above spatiotemporal constraints, engendering a dialogue that transcends eras, territories, and universal aspirations. Through its uniqueness, this narrative fabric follows a kaleidoscopic dynamic that reflects both the sensitivity of the writer and her emotional state.
