Abstract

The purpose of this text is to present the existence of Methodist Protestant newspapers that appeared in Mexico between 1877 and 1914. Thus, based on a historical analysis, the study of the publications is deepened by considering both their physical characteristics and their contents. It is argued that the Methodist journalistic work was more diverse than what is known so far, that the newspapers were published in several states and not only in Mexico City, and finally, that although each of them had its own characteristics, they coincided in three positions: to be anticlerical, not to get involved in politics and to serve as an instrument of evangelization and civility contributing from his particular trench to the socio-cultural development of Mexican society.
