Abstract

This paper reports on a case study where the SODA (Strategic Options Development and Analysis) method was used to help in the maintenance of a computerized system. SODA uses cognitive mapping and group workshops (facilitated with the help of a specialized software) to structure and resolve complex organizational problems such as the maintenance of the system in production that was studied here. We present the method, the case, the main results and how the whole approach was evaluated by participants. One of our most significant findings was that SODA can be used in conjunction with more traditional computerized systems maintenance methods.
