Abstract

Diabetes is one of the most prevalent diseases with significant health and social repercussions, not only due to its high frequency, but also due to the impact of chronic disease complications, as well as its role as a risk factor in cardiovascular disease. However, diabetes can also involve the musculoskeletal system and soft tissues in very different ways, with the hand being one of the most affected regions. In fact, it is estimated that 40% of diabetic patients have significant hand problems that require medical attention.In the present article, the main pathologies of the hand that are associated with diabetes are reviewed, with particular emphasis on their treatment and prognosis.
