Abstract

The article analyses the phenomenon of armed struggle in Italy in the seventies with particular reference to the experience of militancy in the Red Brigades told by those who have experienced and perpetrated political violence. The dimensions of analysis taken into consideration – ideology, organization and sacralisation – will constitute the guidelines for articulating an analysis of the link between revolutionary ideology and political organization. Moreover, this kind of analysis will help to describe the specific process of sacralization which, by investing at first only the ideology, has subsequently also involved the organization contributing to its transformation into a sectarian reality.
