Abstract

The intercultural literature in Europe currently offers a space for reflexion and for cultural enrichment that allows the renovation and redevelopment of the present cosmopolitan paradigm (Coulmas, 1995). Our proposal entails an analysis of the different critical contributions in relation with intercultural dialogue, and the need of opening up to alterity (Jullien 2008, 2012). The theoretical framework is based on the literary analysis of the novels Assommons les pauvres ! (2011) and Apatride (2017), whose author is Shumona Sinha (Calcutta, 1973-), a French Indian woman based in Paris since 2011. Both narratives show us a critical description of the situation of women, not only in the society of origin but also in the host country, where incomprehension, rejection and exclusion prevail for the refugee population.
