Abstract

Durante la segunda mitad del siglo veinte, la teoría económica de la dependencia proveyó a una generación de pensadores latinoamericanos de un amplio repertorio de argumentos culturalistas a través de los cuales se explicó durante décadas todo cuanto ocurría en la región. A partir de dicha mirada ideológica, o en gran medida debido a ésta, el pensamiento urbano arquitectónico en América Latina construyó una argumentación histórica e historiográfica fundamentada en el concepto “dependencia cultural”. El presente artículo reflexiona sobre las consecuencias ideológicas e historiográficas de este imaginario a partir de algunos aspectos del pensamiento de Marina Waisman.
