Abstract

This paper presents some of the results from a completed investigation which analyzed the meaningful allocations attributed to educational investigation in three Mexican academic journals specializing in education: ‘Revista de la Education Superior,’ ‘Perfiles Educativos’ and the ‘Revista Mexicana de Investigacion Educativa.’ In the different sections, the role of the journals as forums for academic dialogue is analyzed; additionally, the authors, themes and nodal problems expressed in the 34 articles that make up the body of this work are identified. Finally, this paper presents meanings and purposes attributed to educational research in the decade from 1992 to 2002. The information provided includes some characteristics of the object of study, the implemented investigative procedures, and the results thereof.
