Abstract
Dionisio Borobio, Christian Initiation and the Catechumenate. «Christian Initiation and the Catechumenate» is a theme of great importance in today's Church. We only have to look at the space given to different aspects (baptism, Christian education, first eucharist, catechesis, confirmation, services and ministries) in historical, theological, liturgical, pastoral and ecumenical studies and to the commitment of people and resources involved. On the other hand, the connections and impact that initiation itself has in ecclesial matters as important as the extension of the Kingdom, evangelisation, the catechumenal nature of the Church, the truth of being baptised, the renewal of the Christian community, the conscious and responsible acceptance of apostolic commitment, tell us that we are dealing with a highly important issue for the future of Christian life. Our objective is to show how all this demands the restoration of the Catechumenate, and what are the necessary conditions and possibilities for this, taking into account its identity and, at the same time, the need to adapt it.
