Abstract

The Huaca Narihuala: a document for the ethnohistory of the North Coast of Peru (1000-1200 A.D.) Abstract Narihuala, is an arqueological site located on the Northern coast of Peru. During the Late Intermediate period (1000-1200 A.D.) it was an important political and administrative center of the Tallán ethnic group, of the Lower Piura valley. In this paper, the author provides an exhaustive analysis of a 1656 ethnohistorical document which describes diggins by local indians, and others, done through contracts with the Spanish Crown. This document is compared to the data collected by the archaeological survey of may 1988 which allowed identification of pottery fragment of Tallán, late Chimu and Local Inca styles, and in which, old prehispanic roads were localized.
