Abstract

This article examines recurring motifs of so called “ Wende -literature” in recent autobiographical writing and autofiction, in order to analyse how the latest generation of young writers has interpreted Germany’s recent past from division to reunification. The objective is to outline the contours of a generational experience, which is both new and yet characterized by an urge to confront the German past and its renegotiation.
