Abstract

From the 21st century onwards, the so-called knowledge society has been accentuated, which presents favorable and unfavorable nuances. Among those that can be identified technologies that assume the operational base of globalization, the internet become a communication network that benefits the imposition of rich and industrialized nations on the marginal and impoverished nations. Globalization is not a recent event, since with every technological revolution, with crucial inventions such as the printing press, the chip, the internet, they favor imbalances and exclusion among countries, undermining participation in production and wealth. Although technologies make it possible to access information, it is no less true that technologies favor marginalization and exclusion, when a large part of the world's population does not access them. Despite its postulates in globalization, democratization is a chimera for many on the planet. Hence, in the context of an era of change, it is worth making some reflections on the historical responsibility of a time crossed by the innovations experienced by the information dissemination processes within the construction of the knowledge society. In the research, the applied methodology was of a qualitative nature, to reflect and understand humanity and its products. The level of knowledge corresponds to the descriptive level, when characterizing a concrete phenomenon or social reality, pointing out its more specific manifestations. The design used was of a bibliographic nature. Keywords: Knowledge society, globalization, information and communication technologies, technological revolution.
