Abstract
As the Francophone world continues to be explored by scholars and students at all levels, more and more people are discovering the diversity of Francophone cultures and linguistic varieties of French found within the borders of the United States today. The French immersion schools of Louisiana are one manifestation of the unique francophonie comtemporaine des États-Unis. This article addresses problems faced by educators teaching in the immersion context in Louisiana. Twelve French immersion teachers were interviewed; the data collected produced ten key issues. Participants’ and author’s suggestions are then shared on how to strengthen the already successful Louisiana immersion model.
