Abstract
From well known physiological and psychophysical data and with the suggestion of a "temporal masking effect", the following properties of the monaural auditory function can be deduced : — the shape of the masking spectra, — the production of combination tones, — the perception of beats of mistuned consonances. An interpretation of PST histograms as impulse responses allows the calculation of the cochlear fibers "tuning curves"
