Abstract

This article studies the characteristics of a group of picture books whose central theme is fantasy, intended for students in preschool and the early years of primary education. The article investigates the distinctive features of these works, considering whether they are appropriate tools in the early stages of education. This paper introduces a brief discussion of the subject of fantasy in the literary tradition, seeks to establish a representative corpus of picture books published between 2010 and 2017, and analyzes their texts and images. Using this analysis, this research intends to find the best strategies to represent fantasy.
