Abstract

When the modem conformation of li terature as specific discourse begins to appear, the spirit of humanism acts as a brake in the development of fiction and poetry specially, as shown in humanist éducative treaties, both in those meant for the formation of the cultured man in general and in those for the humanist in particular. These are the conclusions of our analysis of two of these works, the Libro de la buena educación y enseñanza de los nobles, by Pedro López de Montoya, and El humanista, by Baltasar de Céspedes, where it seems that the platonic anathema continues resounding.
