Abstract

The paper presents the process of forensic interviewing in cases of suspected child and adolescent sexual abuse. After explaining the role of Social Work in the investigation of sexual abuse, we highlight the most relevant aspects of the McMartin case and its impact in the research on language, memory and suggestion. Subsequently, we analyze the fundamental characteristics of the forensic interview process, focusing on the types of questions and the interview components. Finally, we discuss how Law 158 of 2013, ‘Ley Habilitadora de los Centros de Servicios Integrados a Menores Victimas de Abuso Sexual’ presents novel and deep challenges for professional practice in this field.
