Abstract

From a political-cultural approach, this text focuses on the main milestones, meanings and ceremonials referred the extensive process of projection and material and symbolic construction of the great memorial, emblem par excellence of reaffirmation of the National Monarchy during the Spanish Restoration, erected in the park El Retiro in Madrid, and dedicated to the Spanish Homeland personified in the King D. Alfonso XII. The study covers the period 1886-1922.
