Abstract

The development of Internet sites within French local communities can actually be witnessed. Some examples, although rare and worn out, show the possible political use of Internet to increase local democracy. From a wider sample of French cities (large or medium-shed), we aim at showing that the democratic colors of the uses of Internet by the cities is rapidly fading. Data from a study of sites confirm the lack of heading on political communication. Local interest and enviromental influences allow to explain why at the moment, the surge of Internet is in no way altering the political landscape.
