La construcción social de la realidad a través del poder pedagógico de la imagen.

Abstract

This work has the purpose of conducting an exploratory evaluation of the use and functions of the images of the materials about human rights research line that belongs to Ondas Colciencias Program, also their scope and importance for the management of knowledge in the school environment. This approach will be made from an interdisciplinary theoretical perspective, including notions of visual communication, critical sociology and critical pedagogy. These theoretical tools will address the potential of the image in the formation of children and adolescents, considering three issues: the image as an information and communication tool, as a teaching resource and as a means of learning. Ondas Program's pedagogical strategy pursues to promote situated research, that is, research on the reality of children and young people to conduce them to a democratic culture of science and technology. Research is the pedagogical strategy, through it the program hopes to facilitate the management of knowledge, at the school level, and contributes to forming a scientific attitude. This means to apprehend certain values and practices typical of the scientific work in the world today, such as collaborative spirit, critical thinking and the capacity for negotiation and solve conflicts, key values in the production of knowledge. By other side, the appropriation and practice of these values take place in a network of social relations that, like any relation, are power's relation. At the school environment, these relationships are expressed, among other forms, on teacher practices and on certain forms of distribution of knowledge and content. Such knowledge organization may, or may not, consider the interests and needs of the student, which also depends on the pedagogical model or approach adopted. However, what we are interested in this case is about the importance and management of the image, its functions and its place as a resource of the teaching / learning process in this strategy. To solve these problems, a qualitative methodology will be designed, with hermeneutical historical epistemological approach. As part of the study's universe, in addition to the didactic materials, the final reports of the teachers will be analyzed as pedagogical mediators in the management of school knowledge, as well as the reports of the young students who participated in the call for the program in 2010.
